When it comes to football, the English Premier League is probably one of, if not the most watched league in the world. Players from all over the world dream of playing in the Premier League and why wouldn’t they? It has some of the best clubs in the world, the best facilities, and some of the highest-paid players around! If you’re into football, odds are you have a team you support that plays in the league.
While anything can happen, there are generally a few teams that stand a better chance of winning than others. Following on from our Premier League 6 Games in article, let’s take a look at a couple of the top teams from years past!
Manchester City
City is a team that has needed no introduction over the last couple of years. They have won their fair share of titles and don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With the signing of Erling Haaland in 2022, City is poised to win the Premier League with 2/5 odds on Betway. In 2018, under Manager Pep Guardiola, Manchester City won the Premier League and was the only team to reach 100 points in a single season! The following year, they went on to win four trophies, also becoming the first English team to win the domestic treble, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
Liverpool
When it comes to winning the Premier League Title, Liverpool is likely one of the teams that have always come up in the past few years. They won the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, beating Tottenham 2-0. They then also won the 2019-2020 Premier League while they still had 7-games remaining, something which has never been done before. They have also managed to win the Fifa Club World Cup and reach the finals of the Football League Cup and UEFA Europa League in Jurgen Klopp’s first season with the club, finishing runners-up in both competitions.
Arsenal
While they might not be the most winningest team of recent years, Arsenal is one to always look out for. They have a great history and are one of the top 10 richest clubs in the world! They are the club that has won the most FA Cup finals and has won it an astounding 13-times. Currently playing at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal has undergone some massive changes in the past 20 years. From moving stadiums to more recently overhauling how the whole club operates, including saying goodbye to Wenger, Arsenal is looking to be back on track in the Premier League. If they can keep the forward momentum going, look for them to be a top team again!
Final Words
While anything can happen on any given day, generally a few teams stand out year after year. While there is always an underdog waiting to rise to the occasion, some of the bigger clubs, especially those with more money seem to remain at the top. Football is a great sport but with players playing more and more matches, most teams are only 1-2 injuries away from having a subpar season! We are already starting to see that some teams are looking extremely tired already this season and it is still very early on.
